Big Walnut Earns the Ralph Young All-Sports Award

Big Walnut High School is proud to announce it has once again captured the prestigious Ralph Young All-Sports Award, marking the fifth time in six years — and third consecutive year — the Golden Eagles have earned the top honor in the Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) Capital Division.

This year’s race showcased the overall depth and consistency of Big Walnut Athletics. The Golden Eagles finished with an impressive 2.308 average league finish, ahead of second place, which finished with a 3.280 average. The strong performances throughout the year across all sports secured another Ralph Young All-Sports Award for Big Walnut.

“To win the Ralph Young Award five times in six years and three consecutive years speaks to the culture of commitment, competitiveness, and pride that defines Big Walnut Athletics," said Athletic Director Brian Shelton. We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes, coaches, and everyone who contributed to this achievement.”

Over the 2025–2026 school year, eight Big Walnut teams won OCC Championships:

⛳ Girls Golf
🏃‍♀️ Girls Cross Country
🏀 Girls Basketball
🤼 Boys Wrestling
👟 Boys Track and Field
👟 Girls Track and Field
🎾 Boys Tennis

In addition to the championships, nine more teams finished second in the OCC standings, showcasing the depth, consistency, and competitive excellence of Big Walnut Athletics throughout the school year. (Girls Volleyball, Boys Soccer, Girls Tennis, Boys Golf, Boys Bowling, Girls Bowling, Girls Wrestling, Baseball, and Softball). Comp Cheer also won an OCC title, but cheer does not count toward the Ralph Young Award.

The Ralph Young All-Sports Award is presented annually to the school with the best average league finish across all OCC sports.
